The most engaging and active leadership roles are filling the role of a Chapter officer. This is an opportunity to develop hands on experience in communication, project planning & execution, team building, and time management. Elections occur once per year, typically in early spring. Scholarships and Awards
Scholarships and Awards range from $100 to $5000 and are available for both undergraduate members as well as members furthering their academic endeavors through post-graduate study. Applications are available at the beginning of April each year and are due to the Scholarship Committee by the end of May. For more information, please view the Scholarship page.

A popular event on James Madison University’s campus is Arboretum Day. Sigma Alpha Lambda joined in by serving from 9am-12pm on a beautiful Saturday morning. At the arboretum, some members pulled weeds while others were given gloves and trash bags to clean up litter. (more…)
Twenty SAL members at James Madison University joined together to work the concession stand at their school’s basketball game. They volunteered to set up, clean up, and serve food in between. Some members worked the cash register while others made food. (more…)
The SAL chapter at JMU stays very active throughout the semester with a variety of ways that members can get involved. One way that they give back to their community is by adopting a street to clean. (more…)
SAL chapters have been busy making their mark on Halloween this year! From zoos to campus events to social outings, members had plenty of opportunities to enjoy the festivities and bring out the kid inside! (more…)
Three years ago, the James Madison University Chapter came up with the idea of encouraging their members to schedule “lunch dates” as a way for members to connect and get to know each other. This year, Chapter President Kelly Vingelis and the other officers decided it was such a great idea, they brought it back this semester. During their meetings, they take about ten minutes to let people mingle, meet the people sitting next to them, and make lunch dates. (more…)
SAL members at James Madison University love coming up with creative socials to get to know each other. In honor of Thanksgiving, a group of members got together for a family-style meal. Each person brought a dish to make up the traditional Thanksgiving meal of turkey, stuffing, pies and more. (more…)
