The most engaging and active leadership roles are filling the role of a Chapter officer. This is an opportunity to develop hands on experience in communication, project planning & execution, team building, and time management. Elections occur once per year, typically in early spring. Scholarships and Awards
Scholarships and Awards range from $100 to $5000 and are available for both undergraduate members as well as members furthering their academic endeavors through post-graduate study. Applications are available at the beginning of April each year and are due to the Scholarship Committee by the end of May. For more information, please view the Scholarship page.

High Ropes Course Retreat
The SAL chapter at James Madison University took team building to new heights at their last event. Officers and members went on a three hour retreat to a local high ropes course. After completing the low ropes course last semester, they decided they were ready for something more challenging. (more…)
The Big Event
Several SAL chapters participated in this year’s Big Event. Among them were University of Nebraska Lincoln, Texas A&M University, Virginia Tech University, and James Madison University. Big Event is popular among many campuses and involves student organizations joining together to clean and better their community. It is the biggest student-run volunteer project in the nation. A popular event on James Madison University’s campus is Arboretum Day. Sigma Alpha Lambda joined in by serving from 9am-12pm on a beautiful Saturday morning. At the arboretum, some members pulled weeds while others were given gloves and trash bags to clean up litter. (more…)
Twenty SAL members at James Madison University joined together to work the concession stand at their school’s basketball game. They volunteered to set up, clean up, and serve food in between. Some members worked the cash register while others made food. (more…)
The SAL chapter at JMU stays very active throughout the semester with a variety of ways that members can get involved. One way that they give back to their community is by adopting a street to clean. (more…)
